JUNE 12th 2015: Meet Aisling!

The Feeling of Freedom:

AISLING WRITES:

I’ve only gotten into cycling in the last three years.
I cycle to work most days and enjoy going for long cycles at the weekend with friends. There’s nothing like the feeling of freedom when you’re whizzing along on your bike J
Looking Beautiful in Black and Red: Aisling astride her ebony bike.

Editorial Footnote:

When did you last feel truly free in your heart and spirit? Can you think of  a specific time in your life when this sense of freedom pulsed strongly within?

I suspect that most people will recall a time when they were probably either travelling, outdoors, with friends or engaged in some sort of vigorous physical activity. Aisling has found a way to combine all four with her cycling trips!

But don't just take our word for it! Check out the third way to Feel Free on: http://www.wikihow.com/Feel-Free or this study of activities like hiking and biking in a focus group of older citizens:

19th June 2014: Maria Escapes...

Trap a Mother into Babysitting, Grab a Bike and head for Freedom!

Maria writes:

My Mother is just back from holidays and came to visit me so I trapped her into babysitting and ran out the door, bike in tow.

I cycled from Ballincollig to UCC again, this time by myself and it was a breeze...I'm delighted with the fact that now it only took me 35 minutes each way. I don't think I saw one bit of nice scenery, as I was so busy concentrating on traffic and safety.

The only bit of exciting news on this journey was that I swallowed a fly! Apparently I cycle with my mouth open-

13th June Andrea Impresses the Neighbours and Stresses out her Son!

Ballincollig Mums Go Mad for Bikes
Andrea writes:
What a great day to out for a bike ride. I really don't know why I have not got out and done this sooner. It was just so much fun! Thank you Operation Transportation! I am looking forward to having a lot more fun on my bike over the following days.

Thanks to the hard work and efforts of Sarah and the staff at the Bike Shed I get to enjoy this beautiful bike for the next week.
My neighbours were wondering what was going on today as Maria and I raced up and down the street. Our official photographer managed to snap this in-between turns at the end of the street.
After seeing his mum on a bike for the first time ever and having a few near-misses he said he had to work off some of the tension... it was all to much! Not to worry, after my bike safety training tomorrow I will be much better!
