19th June Margaret's Lee-side Cycles Spark Ideas and Trigger Memories

Its Parks and Prayers

on Sunny Day Six

Margaret Writes:
It's sunny day 6 of Operation Transportation.
As before, I got on my bike bright and early, cycled to work and cycled home again after work.

Our evening cycle today took us down to Fitzgerald's Park, what a wonderful amenity for the city!

The Natural foods Bakery in it's new home:
In the Sky Gardens Fitzgerald's Park

It was 8.30pm and the park was still brimming with people.  We stopped to admire the lovely new garden, unfortunately, the café was closed.  I am a big fan of the Natural Bakery, and think they would do good business if they opened late on summer evenings.

We left Fitzgerald's Park, and cycled down the Mardyke, and took a left, over the scenic walk/cycle way until we reached North Mall, where again, there were lots of people enjoying the sunshine.
We cycled back through the cycle/walkway again, and continued along the Mardyke, until we came out opposite the Sacred Heart Church where there were crowds of people gathered for the annual novena.

Home safe and sound!

Editor's Comment

Margaret and I spent several hours in the Sacred Heart Church (several years ago) when she organised the filming of “My First Confession”. Margaret was the executive producer and I played Nasty Nora the nagging sister. The film went on to win the Cork international Film Festival.

And here is that old photo I promised...

Gerry O'Sullivan, as they received the Cu Chulainn Trophy at the Cork Junior International Film and Video Festival for their production of My First Confession, shot on the grounds of the Sacred Heart Church.
